Custom: ROTF Ice Cream Truck

Here's my favorite project to date. I just had so much fun making these guys. It was a learning process along the way. This is my first project with a led light and the first time I soldered for a toy. I also added decals to make it more screen accurate. Also revised the ice cream cone to make it transparent and allow the led light to light up brightly. I sculpted a bit for dirt and mud effects then gave the toy intense weathering. Here's the result. I might just make another one if time permits. Hope you like it!

Here's Iron Man worst nightmare, Ultron! He was incidentally made from an MU Iron Man which was resculpted and repainted into Ultron in his popular silver adamantium and red accents. He comes with a glider in which he is attachable. Hope you like him!

Here is my 2nd ROTF custom Sideways. I basically repainted it to silver metallics then added a few details to bring out more life into this new character. Then clear coated the car mode to really bring out the shine. Some early pics are also included. He is also my very first commission and I'm very happy with the result. I hope his new owner likes him!

Here's my version of my favorite character from the recent movie. Despite his limited airtime, I love Sideswipe's fight scenes and the Corvette Stingray is nothing but LOVE. My version is what I would consider an upgraded version and he's got a few added details. I gave him a cannon to supplement his blades which fires a pulse projectile. This cannon can be conveniently stored beneath when he is in car mode. Then I added nitro flame effects which is essential in showing that this car is fast! I also gave him several clear coats to add a very nice gloss finish and metallized his plastic looking parts. Hope you'll like him.

Here's a custom of myself. I used authentic gear which I really own. Basically, a Genis Vell ML that I resculpted. For the iPod earphone wire, I drilled holes inside the ear to insert the twisties then covered the ear for the earphones. The hardest part was probably the shirt detailing. I hope you guys like it.

I redid the 1st one I made. Basically customized Nightcrawler in a different costume. I added a few details through sculpting like the belt and collar then slowly repainted. Several coat of blue and metallic blue using different techniques were used. The costume itself is coated with different shades of yellow including flat yellow, clear yellow and yellow orange. I love the result, it makes Kurt very vibrant which was exactly what I was aiming for.

Here's the Autobot's weapon specialist Ironhide in a G1 inspired flavor. He's a movie voyager Ironhide repainted to show more metal and make him less plastic. To give him a G1 taste, I clear coated the alternate mode GMC truck with red to achieve a shine red color which is visible with bright light. He's more badass than ever with this new treatment. Hope you like him!

Made from an LCBH Star Body and a Retooled Longshot head is my latest custom based on the new Wolverine movie. He is the hated version of Deadpool which I will be giving some love with these custom. Other areas of the figure were sculpted like the claws and the pants. It took me a long time to finish the detail for the black lines since I wanted to see the actual movie and not the workprint before I finished it. I hope I was able to get him correctly. Enjoy!

Here's my take on the XOW Deadpool. I retooled the chest strap by reattaching it into the costume instead of letting it hang loosely. The belt was also adjusted to provided a snug fit. I also repainted everything. I gave the figure a darker tone of red then covered it with clear orange which I thought captured the comic book essence of DP. I also included him with a previous custom TF Deadpool which I felt was on scale with him. Together, they fight crime and talk about their crazy adventures. The motorbike transforms into a little less than 6" tall robot who's ready to help Wade whenever he's off kicking other people's (or machines) butt! Hope you like my dynamic duo.

This took me quite some time to decide whether I should make it or not. I didn't want to open my Marvel Universe MOC Human Torch and I've never tried customizing a 3.75" figure before. I knew it wasn't going to be easy. Anyway, I decided to go on with the project since I've always wanted to make an AOA Sunfire in ML scale. The design of the character is just a beauty to look at. I sculpted the face and neck brace then created a base for him. At first I made the fire base out of glue but had a hard time making it balance so I attached it to a push button led light which works wonders. Not only did it make it stand, it adds a nice effect when turned on. Afterwards, I repainted away. I used mostly clear colors for the figure and base. The figure was done with clear red, orange and a little yellow while the base was done with the three plus a little smoke to add to the fire effect of the base. Hope you like my first little figure.

Been longing to do this figure and never had the time to finish it. This project started as far as 8 months ago which was way before Marvel Select released their figure. Anyway, I used an SMC Toxin for the base then sculpted a number of details all over the body to achieve the Anti-Venom look then repainted then figure. I covered the black arachnid with the paint I used for Wasp just to create a brighter tone for the chest logo. The white is painted with a combination of flat and gloss white.

I was lucky enough to spot a perfect base figure for Herr Kleiser, the Chitauri super soldier. It was one of the Call of Duty action figures that had a very similar outfit with Herr's. I just repainted the figure with no sculpting. He's ready to face Steve and the rest of the gang.

Another useful custom I decided to make is this really cool Nightcrawler night lamp. I bought a night lamp from the hardware store then modified it to achieve the purple smoke which appears everytime Kurt changes places. The base was made from the night light's cover which I then covered with glue made from glue gun. Then painted it with the a combination of clear red and blue to achieve a purple look. The led light itself is covered blue which further enhances the smoke effect. I also attached a clear stand to put Nightcrawler into. I later realized the ML9 Nightcrawler doesn't have a hole so I made one near his ass. Hope you like it!

Custom: Stealth Iron Man USB Light

Here's something for the computer. A movie Iron Man figure turned into a USB light. I opened up the torso and inserted a USB led light which emits the light in his chest. A really nifty custom. The stealth mode also suits him as a night light when working in the dark. The led light is very powerful (as shown in the pictures) and should last a long time. The figure still remains poseable except for the upper and lower torso articulation which had to be removed to accomodate the led light. Hope you like him!

Another one for the Ultimate Avengers movie diorama is this War Machine donned by Mr. Tony Stark. A simple repaint of the ML 9 War Machine. Basically just repainted the black area with gunmetal. Easy to do yet creates a very lovely effect. I included a shot of the unfinished diorama as well.

I'm on the process of creating my Ultimate Avengers diorama and so I needed the most important figure of the story, Captain America. I used an FO Cap Am. I started by cutting off the feather near the ears then replacing the left hand fingers since the one I had didn't have any. I used the hands from one of my extra Moon Knight. The rest was just repainting and adding details. I added a few drybrushing details here and there.

Had a ML2 Doom lying around so I decided to give it a brighter look against it's normal dark shade. I tried something new on the steel parts by coating it with both enamel and acrylics. At first enamel was really sticky and hard to hold but after covering the areas with acrylics, it became better and yielded a nice result. It produced a nice shade and texture that's quite different when painting it w/ pure acrylics. I also repainted the base with metallic brown and gunmetal. That's it for him pretty much.

I have always loved Quicksilver even since I was a child and so I decided to look into his different costumes and what would be nice to do. This was the best thing I found. Made from an HML2 QS with the hands of LCBH Madman for the gloves. I also made him a special backdrop/base to imitate his speed and how it is shown in comics. It's translucent which should make a lot of sense. I used several tones of blue to paint the body which creates a wash and shadow effect. Hope you'll like it.

Yes, it's another Deadpool but this time I made his Agent of Weapon X costume. He's made from a Moon Knight body and arms from LCBH Madman. I also added a coat to add to his bad ass look. The rest of the details are sculpted. I also employed multi shading to give it a vibrant and realistic look. This meant using a combination of dry brushing, washing and adding an additional "light effect" coating. Hope you'll like it.

Custom: Modern Deadpool 2

I made a new and simply better version of Modern Deadpool which took me about 3 weeks. He is made from a Moon Knight head and LCBH Star body. The pistol and pouch came from Baron Zemo while the alternate unmasked head is a re sculpted Two Face head. The weapons came from various MLs including Hydra soldiers, Punisher and Elektra. Meanwhile the grenades were sculpted. Deadpool was given a shinier finish than normal figures would. I figured that it would give him a whacked out sleek look and I'm happy with the results. Basically, I basecoated the whole figure with black then covered parts with red. To achieve the sleek look, I added clear orange and red to the red parts and smoke to the black. Enjoy!

A repaint of the pretty dull Titanium Man from the Iron Man movie series. He gets a black prime the drybrushed with silver or gunmetal depending on the area. Detailing was done after with the addition of smoke paint and green to reach the Titanium Man we always knew in the comic books. Clear red was used for the eyes. I'm very proud of this repaint since the result is very unique and seems to blend the modern and classic looks of Titanium Man. Enjoy.

It took me forever to find an affordable Mark II IM to repaint into one of my favorite armor modes of Iron Man. The body was coated with minimal silver to retain a darker tone then was recoated with gunmetal to achieve a dirty Mark II effect. After that several coats of clear blue and orange were given. The result is a very dark color tone which was what I wanted to accomplish in the first place.

Here is Barricade after his first encounter with Bumblebee. Although we thought he died after their battle, we saw him again together with the other Decepticons during the early stages of the final battle with the Autobots. Barricade is depicted in a Battle Damaged mode. Highly detailed with rusted and faded parts, broken glass and chipped paints. His left eye is also destroyed with some parts already missing like one of his fingers and side mirror. Truly, a high detailed depiction of Barricade after bravely standing his ground against Sam's guardian.

These are the reason why I started collecting toys!! From left to right we have TFTM Deluxe Jazz,Voyager Ratchet, Leader Class Optimus Prime, Voyager Ironhide and Deluxe Bumblebee. All of them were repainted to get a more accurate robotic look. The two boxes are what I consider to be the holy grail of my collection. They are the Nike Free 7.0 Transformers Megatron and Convoy. The red car at the left is TFTM Cliffjumper. The three cars on top of the two boxes are Bumbleebee Camaro 08, the "custom faded" Classic Camaro Bumblebee and TF Animated Bumblebee. The formula one car is a TF Classics Mirage and the odd one from the group is Silver Surfer. My poster boy is Nightcrawler showing a bad finger while hanging using his tail.

Collection: Marvel Civil War

Before I customized action figures, I collected action figures. Right... So here's most of my Marvel Legends in a Civil War diorama. Anti-registration are underground headed by Cap and Nick Fury. Also with the team starting from left are Falcon, Vision, Thing, Punisher, Hercules, Sue Storm, Julia Carpenter, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Winter Soldier. Meanwhile, sitting near the manhole is Nitro with Thor behind him. Starting from left, it's Quicksilver with the Astonishing X-Men. Beast, Iceman, Emma Frost, Cyclops and Marvel Girl (backward variant pose). Next is Human Torch in a bike with Storm, Deadpool and Wasp behind him. In the basketball court area we have Ms. Marvel standing on a drum barrel. Sitting are Rogue and my girlfriend (yes, I made her in plastic.) with Dr. Doom as referee with no players yet. Inside the building are the HYDRA. Baron Strucker, Red Skull, Spiderwoman and 15 Hydra Agents. By the wall is Iron Spidey while Sentry is flying carrying a Wanted: Captain America poster. At the rooftop are Franklin Richards, Maria Hill, Modern Armor Iron Man and the rest of the Illuminati. Xavier, Hank Pym, Black Panther, Dr. Strange and Namor, who is busy battling Wolverine, are present. The poster boy is Transformers Animated Cybertron Mode Optimus Prime, carrying the current Marvel Legends logo. Which side are you on?

Custom: Hitman Agent 47

I finally decided to recreate one of gaming's favorite icon, Agent 47 from the popular Hitman series of games. I used a Lex Luthor head with a DCSH Clark Kent body. The coat was resculpted and the tie came from a portion of Psylocke's belt. The weapons came from HML3 Hydra Goons. I used a semi-gloss finish from the entire outfit. This is easily in my top 5 customs right now. I love the simplicity of the character.

Custom: Bank Robbery Joker Thug

During the opening scene of The Dark Knight, we are greeted by one bank robbery which began Joker's reign of terror. The popular Thug team composed of criminals manipulated by Gotham's lovely clown included the Joker himself. Most viewers would notice that the guy with the grumpy face mask was just quiet and unassuming. This scene definitely won me over that I decided to try and make my own Joker, the bank robber. I used a Two Face body then resculpted the head from a SOTA Vega, sculpted the coat to be open and a full body repaint to match the movie's outfit. So here's my version of the greatest thug of them all.

Custom: Jocasta

I always thought that Jocasta was an easy figure to do, just a base coat of black then tons of silver then it's done. But no, it was harder than I thought. I had a hard time getting the hair and it took be to days to finally get the shape I wanted. The body accents weren't as easy too. The diamond in the tummy is from an ML Pyro which I got from fodder then sculpted into Jocasta. I gave her 3 levels of black base coat and several coats of aluminum and silver. By the way, ML Psylocke was used as base with the hair and belt completely removed.

Custom: Modern Armor IM

Just a basic repaint of ML8 Modern Armor Iron Man into metallics. Basecoated with 3 levels of black. Drybrushed with 4 levels of chrome silver. Then repainted red parts with more than ten coats of clear red while yellow parts took around 5-7 coats of clear yellow. Another one for my Civil War diorama. The progress pics are included from Mark II armor to Silver Centurion and finally to the popular red and gold.

I hate the cat face Beast but I needed a Beast to match my Astonishing X-Men team. No problem. I got a ML 4 Beast then sculpted the Astonishing costume into his bare body. The result is a great looking Beast in a modern look. This was an easy custom which I felt was necessary for my collection. I'll post pics of my cabinet soon.

Another Deadpool but in another totally different universe. I've made a number of Deadpools but this one is easily my favorite. It's Wade if he had a spark and was living in Cybertron! I got a TFA deluxe prowl, resculpted the head and gave him a totally whacked out black and red paint job that reminds me of Ducati motorbikes. I also gave it a seal to help prevent paint scratches during transformation. I tried to match it with the modern Deadpool suit which is quite a noticeable inspiration during robot mode. This was one hard custom to make and definitely worth all the time and effort I put into it! Hope you guys like it.

Free Joker?! Yep from the cereal box! So what's next? Give it a new treatment. If you have seen one of those cereal Jokers, it's not painted in detail. I gave it a more realistic movie look. I based the colors from a 1:6 replica Joker. The lipstick shows pink along the sides while the lips are dark red. I gave the eyes more black markings around the area. The wrinkles are also defined and colored. The hair was also repainted to be more movie accurate. The gloves were repainted to dark blue as well as the pants although the pics can't quite show the difference from the coat.

What?!! Iron Deadpool?? Well, I had an idea of an interesting Civil War What If. What if Tony chose Wade instead of Peter? Well, he wouldn't likely switch sides. The merc with a mouth would certainly be loyal to Tony and of course Tony will provide him with a really cool outfit. This is my idea of it. It contains hints of the modern Deadpool outfit plus some of the Iron Spidey suit attributes. Instead of stingers, Wade gets a large sharp stinger plus two mini cannons. This suit is simply ready for battle and suited to turn other mutants to register with the government. The body is an Iron Spidey with a little sculpt in the head to match DP's popular mask then the weapons are from BAF Mojo's legs. They sure came in handy.

Here is another avatar based custom. The base is a ML Mr. Sinister. I removed the cape and added more muscle in the face, chest, back. I'm not really very familiar with the character but I thought it looked real cool so I just had to make it. I felt it really was an interesting concept because Colossus has a good boy image. An evil version just seemed so unlikely.

It's Batroc the Leaper! One of Captain America's not so famous enemies. I just felt he was a fitting character to do with my Bullseye lying around. Added a little sculpt to match my guide pic's costume. The purple is actually cobalt blue mixed with a little white. Meanwhile the yellow is a darker tone of flat yellow. I added a little red to make it look better. Here he is, ready to jump over Steve Rogers and evade his shield.

Custom: Silk Spectre

After seeing the Watchmen movie trailer, I researched on the figures and wanted to make all of them, however I only had 1 base figure that could possibly match one of the characters as of the moment. It was an ML Psylocke which could easily be matched with Silk Spectre's costume. I just removed the belt then sculpted more silicon into Psylocke. A white base coat for the dominant yellow part and black all the way for the black. I used semi gloss black to achieve a shiny finish while the yellow was a fix of flat yellow and clear yellow. Clear yellow gives a stronger tone of yellow plus adds a little more shine. She was done after around five days. The hard part was retaining the physical image of the costume. Here she is. Who's watching the watchmen now?

Custom: Eddie Brock Venom

Another avatar based custom I simply wanted to do. The recipe was to remove Venom's head and reattach it to ooze sprouting from his back. I used a SMC Venom then removed the head. For the ooze rays I used twisties as structure then sculpted in all the way together with the head. Took me around 3 days to do this part. Then, I resculpted a FO Sabretooth head. The painting was aimed at matching MvsC colors. The skin and symbiote have the comic effect on them which I really liked. After a week, he is done and ready to kick Spidey's ass!!!

Custom: Hydro Armor Iron Man

When I first saw DCSH Lex Luthor's body, I knew that it was a fitting body for a Hydro Armor rendition of Iron Man. I got a loose Lex which unfortunately has a left foot with superglued articulation. This meant a harder time posing but the figure can still stand well and do a variety of poses. I took a HML Ultimate IM mask and sculpted it into the head chamber. I first basecoated the whole figure black. Then covered it with aluminum. Parts were then painted with either clear red or yellow to bring out the popular IM metallic look. After several coatings, the results is a beautifully shined metallic look armor that's ready for fighting in Atlantis!

This is one custom that I really enjoyed doing. When I started off with a ML Moon Knight, I couldn't imagine how it would possibly end up as a modern Deadpool. I could picture out the face but not the rest of the body. Anyway, I used semi-gloss black and shiny red for the body. Several parts were sculpted like the belt buckle and leg braces. I got the weapons from an ML Deadpool.

This is my first time to make a Marvel Vs Capcom based figure. It's basically an ML Gambit repainted to match its MvsC counterpart. I've enjoyed looking at many avatars of Marvel characters and since I had a Gambit lying around, I decided to make wonders with him. I added more hair to emphasize the windy look. I gave the original black costume a blue shade then added emphasis to the silver parts. I also repainted the cards on kinetics and the stick.

Hi! It's my first time to post a collection pic. I have with me my 15 Hydra Agents with 4 of them variants. I also included FO Red Skull and Baron Strucker as well as Spiderwoman and a custom brainwashed Elektra. The first pic also shows another difference between a regular and variant Hydra. For a variant Hydra, the H is protruding while for the regular, it's carved out.

I had a DCSH Two Face and Lex Luthor. My original plan was to make an Agent 47 from Hitman. However, upon searching the internet, I saw an image of Deadpool I just wanted to make! It's the Deadpool 49 cover wherein Wade was in a formal attire. So I decided to do it instead using the Two Face body and a SOTA Vega head. I removed the hair then tried to create a replica of a Moon Knight head which is a popular choice among Deadpool creators. I added epoxy in the right hand to imitate the cover's handglove. Instead of the bowtie, I retained the tie but painted it red and black to make it Deadpool inspired as well. I equipped him with a gun and he was all done. Check out the cover if I got him right.

I've seen at least three of these in the web so I decided to give it a shot given the abundance of Psylockes in our city. The hair is from ML Jessica Drew Spiderwoman. I augmented the chest and ass to make it more Felicia Hardy. I guess it turned out realistic enough. I gave it a clear top coat to protect this figure. I just love it! Anyway, this took me 4 days to finish. I'm not quite satisfied with the eyes but it was sufficient enough. WIPs added at the end of the page.

I got this idea with a fellow toy collector/customizer. We were talking about KO IM toys and how one could make a lot of different armors with them. Anyway, I decided to make one inspired by my country's flag. I used an HML Ultimate Iron Man as base then basecoated it gray and repainted. I first conceptualize how it would be colored using Photoshop just to make sure that I capture our flag like Captain America's costume captures the stars and stripes.

The idea was to capture the custom faded look claimed by Bobby B (the car guy played by Bernie Mac). I washed the yellow with a darker tone then painted the glasses with smoke. The Bee's body parts were painted aluminum to get the metallic look. After the wash was done, I drybrushed with aluminum to get the custom faded look. The cannons were painted blue and aluminum to create a similar look to that with the Takara issue.

A basic repaint of the ML regular Wasp. It originally had a yellow green and black costume. I repainted it to a yellowish orange shade to add to my Civil War collection.

The recipe I used for this is a Pyro base body and a HML Bucky head and belt. Added epoxy to some parts then repainted it into a battle green costume similar to that of certain armies. The weapons are from HML Hydra Agent.

I wanted to do an Angel based on the Civil War costume. It's a fully repainted ML Archangel with the Clark Kent head from the body I used to make Tony Stark. Anyway, I realized now that I used a gloss flesh for the skin so it came out too shiny. I didn't really like the result on this one. It shows a lot of impatience and beginner skills.

I got the idea from Jin and followed the same recipe. It took me some time to find a DCSH Clark Kent and when I finally did, I went to work immediately. Took a Dr. Strange head then resculpted the hair and facial hair. Gave him a different flesh tone afterwards. It was a mixture of flesh,white,red and yellow.

Custom: Modern Falcon

I always like my customs to be different in one way or another from their normal comic cook counterparts. That's why my modern Falcon will differ slightly from the one in comics simply because I wanted it to be that way. So what differs? The legs have falcon claws so I outlined it plus the wings where given drybrushed silver to give it a sort of metallic look. For me, it's still a modern Falcon but with a little twist. BTW, I used the regular Falcon as base. Pure repaint on this one.

I never got a chance to acquire a cheap Iceman figure so I decided to make one out of an extra Johnny Storm from the Fantastic Four boxset. Imagine the irony of turning fire into ice! Anyway, I added a few icicles around the upper chest and retained the flames in the arms and legs. I thought it would look cool after I repainted. Basically, I basecoated this baby, white then mixed blue and white for some light blue ice look. I'm glad it turned out alright after. I dig the ice flames in his arms and legs.

I wanted to have a Civil War Luke Cage wherein he was in casual clothes. I'm not sure though if that is the modern Luke. Anyway, he was one of my earlier customs so it didn't came out so pretty. Hahaha! I used an ML Luke Cage body and scrap off part of his boots then added Waterstop epoxy to the chest area, legs and head.

Custom: Civilian Mystique

This is a fairly easy custom to do. It's inspired by Mystique in normal clothes. I used an ML 10 Mystique body then cut the white part of the belt. Then I reattached the skulls. Gave the blue skin a darker tone. I painted the skulls with a little bit of copper and aluminum. The bag is from an ML Longshot.

I made this custom a long time ago and was one of my first repaints. I saw a photo of a brainwashed Hydra agent Elektra which is basically a black costume version of the character.
I used Tamiya acrylics for this one. It's a mixture of flat black with a little bit of flat aluminum.

I started reading Marvel Civil War a few weeks back and the very first character that I wanted to do was Maria Hill. Good thing that the ML Wasp is on buy one take one in local toy stores. I decided to buy and start my customs with her. Basically, I removed the wings using knives and pliers then added epoxy to match SHIELD uniforms. I gave the costume a little twist by making it silver edition instead of the usual black. So here she is.

How I Started

I started customizing around late April to early May of this year. I bought all the things I needed to start. Epoxy clay, Tamiya paints, brushes, craft knife, tools and other miniatures to help me get this hobby started. To date, I have done more than 15 customs. I use Marvel Legends figure as bases. Some require just repainting while others can involve harder methods like adding epoxy clay or swapping parts. I learned mostly from online tutorials and other friends who helped me along the way. Soon, I will be posting links to tips on customizing as well as my customs. Hope you enjoy my works. :)
